Over a $ 175.00 unpaid tax, which subsequently turned out to not even be owed, a woman was driven out of business when the IRS took over her shop and auctioned off the equipment inside. She even presented them with the receipt, which clearly showed she had paid the tax.
To date she has received neither compensation nor even a simple "Oh shit, we really screwed that one. Sorry." In a civil court she would have been awarded the firstborn child of a creditor who caused this sort of damage to her.
